Fabio Capello named John Terry captain of England, and Rio Ferdinand the heir apparent... but where's Gerrard? Steven has been arguably England's most consistent player over the years, and he is only 27 years old. He makes way more sense than Rio!

Steven Gerrard has been one of England's most solid and vocal leaders over their recent string of bad fortune, but he wont be there to kick off the World Cup qualifying campaign. Gerrard is going under the knife for groin surgery at the worst time!

Why did Capello play Gerrard on the left side? He should be playing in the center or on the right. I have a right mind to give that Spanish peacock a walloping for his decision making. Make Lampard play a wing, and leave Gerrard in the mid!

I cant believe Steven Gerrard got injured already. They shouldn't even be playing him right now in all these warm-up games against weak teams. Now when they need him next week against Standard Liege in the Champions League qualifying he is hurt!
